Our History
The Hawkey family, Penpont Farm and how The Olde House came to be.
Penpont Farm has been in the Hawkey family since 1915. Back in the 1970’s, we took a big step and decided to share our little piece of Cornwall by branching out into tourism.
It all started with a few stone and slate barns around the old farmyard, which we converted into cosy, self-catering holiday cottages. Guests quickly fell in love with the charm of staying on a working farm, surrounded by peaceful countryside and being just a stone’s throw from the beautiful Camel Estuary and stunning beaches of North Cornwall.
Over time, we’ve restored every suitable building and even built a few new cottages, creating now what’s known as The Olde House. What began as a small family farm has grown into a tranquil holiday destination.
To make stays even more special, we’ve added lots of extras over the years, like a heated indoor pool, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi, play areas (both indoors and out), a tennis court and a brand new for 2025 padel court. We’ve loved watching families return year after year, and we can’t wait to welcome you too.
