Let us take care of entertaining the kids, little ones and teens alike, with complimentary daily activities for the whole family to enjoy, whatever the weather. Look here at all the things you can do on the farm.

Please note some of these activities are only provided during peak English school holidays (dates may vary – please feel free to give us a call to double check). Children do need to be accompanied by an adult.

Woodland fun

Step into nature and explore our bug hotel and woodland den. During the school holidays, there’s load of fun to be had here at woodland fun. Learn how to build a fire, toast marshmallows, enjoy s’mores and tasty baked apples, hot chocolate during the winter months, craft your own bird feeders, and paint wooden keepsakes from our fallen Chestnut tree to take home. It’s the perfect mix of adventure and creativity, all set in the heart of the woods.

Lambing on the farm

Lambing time is one of the most magical moments on the farm, and we love sharing it with our guests.

Once or twice a year, you can visit our lambing shed to see the adorable newborn lambs arrive and even lend a hand bottle-feeding the ones that need a little extra care. It’s a truly memorable and hands on experience that makes your farm holiday in Cornwall feel extra special.

We have a flock of around 900 sheep here at The Olde House. Our first lambs are born out in the fields in September, while the main lambing season takes place in February, perfect timing for our popular lambing weekends. This special weekend is a guest favourite, with our Lucky lambing tour giving you the chance to visit the lambing shed, learn all about the process, cuddle a lamb, and if you’re lucky – witness a lamb being born.

Falconry

During the school holiday we offer a complimentary first-class free flight display featuring a stunning variety of birds of prey, all brought to life through David’s fun and fascinating commentary. With over 30 years of experience as a professional falconer, David is passionate about sharing his love for these incredible creatures with an incredible talk.

Pond-dipping

Discover the hidden world beneath the water, back in the Summer of 2014, our local primary school joined us for a farm visit. After a stop at the bird hide, we wandered over to the pond. It was bursting with life. With trays and nets in hand the children dipped into the water and scooped up an incredible 20 Water Boatmen in one go. Their excitement was contagious, and it inspired Jaime to make pond-dipping a regular activity during the school holidays.

Now, you can join in the fun too! We provide all the gear. Trays, nets and ID charts.
