‘Holiday Park of the Year’ at the Cornwall Tourism Awards 2025
We’re absolutely delighted to share that we have been named ‘Holiday Park of the Year’ at the Cornwall Tourism Awards 2025 — an achievement we’re incredibly proud of!
The awards night, held at the beautiful Truro Cathedral, was a brilliant evening and a wonderful opportunity to celebrate together with so many inspiring businesses from across the county.
This award truly belongs to our amazing team, who work so hard to create wonderful experiences for our guests and make The Olde House so special. It’s fantastic to see their dedication and passion recognised in this way.
We thought we’d take this opportunity to tell you a little more about our wonderful team here at The Olde House — and some of the important roles they undertake ‘behind the scenes’!
The Reception Team
Our three reception staff — Laura, Lottie and Zoe — are always just a phone call away if you have any queries, no matter how big or small. They will always endeavour to answer your questions or find the right solution for you.
Laura has been working in the office for many years and is usually the lovely face that greets our Friday arrivals.
Lottie has been our much-valued ‘Saturday girl’ for 7 years and is on hand all day to welcome our Saturday arrivals and help with any queries.
Zoe joined the office team at the end of 2025, having previously worked as our Head Housekeeper for seven years. She knows The Olde House well which helps her in her new role.
Grounds Maintenance & Animal Care
Kevin is our wonderful gardener and also takes great care of all the animals in Pets’ Corner. Kev has been part of The Olde House family for an incredible 24 years, making him a very familiar and much-loved face among our regular guests.
Many of you will have met Kev during our popular animal feeding sessions — something both children and adults thoroughly enjoy. He’s always happy to answer questions and share his knowledge, and nothing is ever too much trouble.
If you spot him out and about around the site — mowing the grass, tending to the gardens or looking after the animals — do be sure to say hello!
The House Keeping Team
Our dedicated housekeeping team of around 20 works incredibly hard to ensure every cottage is immaculately clean and perfectly prepared for each guest’s arrival. Their attention to detail means everything is just as it should be, creating a warm and welcoming first impression.
The team is led by Nigel, who has been part of The Olde House for four years and became Head Housekeeper in summer 2024. Nigel takes great pride in making sure every cottage is spotless, safe, and ready to welcome guests — cream tea included! Alongside his housekeeping role, Nigel also lends a hand to Kev in the outdoor areas. He has introduced several lovely additions to the grounds, including the herb garden by the lower laundry, the raised bed near Plumtree, and the Mediterranean garden beside the BBQ shack.
Many members of our cleaning team have been with us for years — Ann for 16 years and Mandy for an incredible 21 years. The whole team shares a wonderful sense of camaraderie and often gathers together for lunch breaks, enjoying each other’s company as much as their work. Like Kevin, if you spot any of our team around the site in their bright blue Olde House t-shirts, please do say hello — they’ll be delighted to greet you!
Dom has been our Maintenance Manager for the past 10 years and is an invaluable part of the team. With a wealth of hands-on experience, he can turn his hand to just about anything. From carrying out minor repairs and routine maintenance to unblocking sinks, fixing leaks, replacing lights and sockets, and checking smoke alarms, no job is too small or too complex.
Dom takes pride in ensuring every property is safe, functional, and maintained to a high standard. Whether responding to day-to-day maintenance needs or addressing unexpected issues as they arise, he approaches every task with efficiency, reliability, and attention to detail — helping everything run smoothly behind the scenes.
The Boss
Jaime and Shaun have been married for 20 years, and around 18 years ago Shaun began stepping into the role of “The Boss,” gradually taking over from his parents, Janice and Andrew, who starting converting the farm buildings back in 1976. It marked the beginning of a new chapter for the family business, with Shaun bringing fresh energy while continuing the strong foundations already in place.
Jaime officially joined the business after the birth of their third child, and together they have led a number of significant projects across the site. Their first major undertaking was the conversion of Barn and Elm, transforming the space into our first 5-star property, The Barn. This milestone project set a new standard and reflected their shared vision for quality and excellence.
Shortly afterwards, they completed the renovation of The Manor House, which had been the Hawkey family home for many years. Blending modern comfort with the character and history of the property, it was another proud achievement for the family.
Then came the biggest project of all — the brand new pool and spa. Work began in 2016, and after a year of construction, the pool area was completed. A few months later, the games room was finished, now standing proudly on the site of the original pool. The development marked a major investment in the future of the business and remains one of their most ambitious and rewarding projects to date.
